Hi, I need a bit of help.
I have had an aquarium since I can remember but they have all been freshwater. I'm very interested in the hobby. I've recently become obsessed with saltwater tanks, and was hoping someone could help me establish a low gallon tank for under 100$. Any help appreciated.

if you want to start under $100, i would search craigslist for a used nano cube and you might get a 12 gallon JBJ nano cube for under $100. if you are lucky you might get some live rock and a couple of fishes too for that price. Once you get started you can add slowly.
i got my JBJ 24 gallon with stand on craigslist for 100 bucks just the tank and stand. |

First
To Reef Central Second, let me see if I understand the question correctly. Are you looking to set up a saltwater tank for under $100? If so, it is possible I suppose, but will be very difficult to set up for that kind of money, and it will likely be very difficult to maintain such a small amount of water and keep it stable. I would suggest you look for something a little bigger, try looking on Craigslist in your area for someone getting out and selling a complete setup. There seems to be a lot of good deals out there right now. Good luck and welcome to the additcion

Have a look at this youtube channel http://www.youtube.com/user/ipsfdotcom?blend=2&ob=1 It will get you started in the right direction for just about what you are wanting to spend. 100 bcuks would work for you but that would probably be without livestock. Getting back into the hobby last year after a cross country move I started with the methods/products he mentions and then slowly added on. Have had great success.

I just bought used... 75gal up and running.
Nice to be running and already live and growing, but also has its down sides. I spent over $100, but had many offers of tanks/setups near the $100 that were way too small for what I was looking for. I would say if you check CL, you may just find something....even post that you are looking for..... After a week of patience, you may find what you are looking for. Good Luck! Rob

As everyone else said, try craigslist. I got my 50 gal w/stand for $80. Awesome deal. Never know what you'll find.

There is a great deal in Tulsa area if people are interested. $200, Oceanic 73 gallon bowfront, all accessories included except live sand and live rock. Even comes with stand!!
It's on craigslist if people are interested. I'd buy it tomorrow if I had the space. It's even drilled and plumbed for a sump! |
