Iam sure we will get your fixture to work I just hope its not a ballast so you dont have to wait to long
But if it is then replace it asap and keep reefing

so far i have everything opened up, but being a 10 bulb fixture there are lots of wires running and it is very tight. i want to check on the ballast that fires up #6 because that is the light that is buzzing and flickering.

Ok sorry for the late response do this as i dont have one in hand

Go to bulb 6 and verified the wire going to that end cap unscrew the end cap to see were it goes too

Cause the ballast could be place in an other section

For the cable just remeber what endcaps goes were and you will see like a gray sleeve take if of thats just a protector for the wires

i tried rearranging the ballast, but still same problem. bulb 3 and 8 will only flash, but not stay on. i took out ballast for 9 and 10, and used it for 3 and 8. same problem.

Thanks effiel,

I won't be spending any more time on it tonight. Since it is under warrenty yet I think I will ship it back to Reef Geek. I did print out your instructions and will keep them for if this happens again while not under warrenty. Thanks again.

Crush Coral

You could save the money of the shipping and the wait Its very easy but if its not a concern for you send it for repair
If I were you I give it a try and save time and money the 4 bulb is very easy to work with

Good luck anyway

Just a thought, could a wire be loose in the power box(where all the incoming cords are grouped down to the single wire)? If you are still having the same problem after putting a different ballast there, maybe the power wires supplying the ballast have connection problems.

i tried checking that power box and everything looks good. i will double check again. right now im in the process of swapping out ballasts from my 6 bulb unit. i did notice that the ballast from the 6 bulb and 10 bulb are different.

update.

i rewired the ballast differently and now everything seems to be working OK. bulbs 5 and 6 are now the 2 bulb mode and is run by cord A. cord B runs 1,2,3,4,7,8,9,10. everything fires up fine, no flickering and buzzing....atleast for now.

im not really sure what the problem was, i think maybe it was wired wrong? anyways, im glad everything seems to be working, although my dawn/dusk mode is in the wrong places. i can live with that. im happy i dont have to send anything out and have downtime and go through all the hassle.

thanks egg so very much. you have been awesome help!!!

Thats good news even do i will like it to make it work like it suppose on your down to dusk

If you have time try and see if you could change end caps from light 5 to positon of light 3 moving both sides of the endcaps

and vice versa 3rd position to 5

your welcome
