suicidal coral beauty??

I've had my coral beauty for over 7 yrs. and he just flew out of the tank!!! He landed at least 3 ft. away. I picked him up and immeadiately put him back. What would make him do something like that??

Had a friend of mine put her finger in my tank years ago and my Trigger bit and held on...She yanked her hand out and slung the poor fella all the way across the room. Picked him up and put him back and he never missed a beat. One will never know why your Coral Beauty tried to commit suicide. Is your fish OK? I hope so....

Usually stress or someone chasing him. Whats your parameters???? High ammonia or nitrates that would stress the fish into searching for better waters???

I just tested and all comes back a-ok. Nitrates maybe 5 but it's always been like that. He's in the tank with 2 false percs, royal gramma, yellow watchmen goby and a tiger pistol shrimp (which I just got last week). They have all been together for yrs. so he's not stressed. At least I picked him up before my dog or cat did

That must have been the reason because he's fine today. I watched him for a few minutes last night then turned the lights off to reduce any stress if there was any.
