What do you recommend in a refugium to help with nitrates and phosphates?

If you have a good algae eating crew in your display tank, then you should try to get as many types of algae/plants as possible. If you don't have fish that would eat algae, i'd just do Cheato.

How are you getting these live pods? If you can just get a clump of algae from an established refugium, it will have all you need already.

Pods will find their way in there from your main tank also.

That's what I was talking about, but you NEED a crew of hungry algae eaters in your display. Maybe you havent had a problem with it spreading to your display yet, but it's only a matter of time before it DOES happen. I have mine full of about 6 types of Caulerpa and some Cheato. I am upping my algae eating crew as we speak. 2 Dwarf Angels and a Rabbit Fish are my plan.
