Light Tunnels
Does anyone in the northern US/Canada or similar area across the pond have any first hand experience using the light tunnels/solar tubes? I am setting up a new tank in a main floor area and could easily install a light tube or two but can't find many accounts of them being used for lighting a tank. I realize we don't have the light intensity to do exclusive solar up here but was wondering about using them as supplemental lighting, sunrise/sunset, and moon lighting.
For reference I am located around Latitude: 42° 59' North Longitude: 81° 14' West |

seen tanks in sunrooms during summer months for the only source of light but it would seem the benifits would be minimal for the effort

Thanks for the response guys but I am really trying to find first hand info on northern lighting conditions and how they work. I have seen many beautiful tanks that utilize them but they are all in more southern areas within/around the Tropic of Cancer/Tropic of Capricorn area of the equator.
I am trying to figure out if the $500+ to install a couple of these would be of any benefit in the northern areas. |
