It's definately not a bristle worm, we found a small one a few days ago. This creature was more like an evil looking star fish perhaps.

IF ITS GREEN. ITS THE LOCHNESS MONSTER, Im j.k. I feel your pain, bro. But no bristle worm or star fish etc is going to do that to your fish. No, way. If i was you. Its time to take everything down and dip your live rock in r.o water and look. Espcially, before you put anything else in there thats going to cost you more $ and headaches. I dont think anyone can help you on here except give you advice on maybe's with out a picture.

Hope is a great thing. Just remember when you catch that lil bandit. Post a big picture warning dead or alive. Give him 25 to life. Buy a lil gold fish tank with nothing in it and let him starve. Look at him everyday and smile and before you leave flip that bastard off, hahaha

It could be anything from internal parasites to flukes (common on jaws) to an electrical current in the tank... Bristle worms are harmless.

Try the bottle trap with silversides--not shrimp. What I do is go light feed on friday and no feed on saturday or sunday. I put the trap in sunday night and pull it monday morning. This way, I can "starve" the tank without starving my fish.
I've caught quite a few crabs this way. BTW, do you hear any clicking coming from your tank?

I had a rock crab helping me keep my fish stock level low. We eventually cornered him and got him into a separate system. Took alot of night watching and infrared torches to find him.
