can ich spread through inverts?
I know that ich doesn't infect invertebrates, but can it spread through them? I was thinking about buying some new snails and I really don't want to risk giving ich to my clown, since I don't have a QT.
-Thanks |

Theoretically crypto can encyst on a snail shell. The chances of introducing ich into your tank this way are pretty small, but there.

Personally I QT everything. Even seasoned live rock. One little invert or cool frag is not worth causing trouble in your display tank. Besides it gives you a chance to observe your new addition, in a place where it won't be harrassed. It also allows for the opportunity to ajust your QT tank salinity to the water in the bag. Then over your QT period, adjust your QT salinity to match your display tank. Less stressful on the invert too. Then they aren't going through a big salinity swing, which even with drip acclimating can happen. ( It just happens slower with the drip method IMO. ) I'm sure there will be people that will tell you otherwise. For me, I don't gamble. Ok, maybe just in Vegas
