metal halide or t5 ho actinic?
have a aquarium with 90g and i want to keep soft coral,polips,zhoantus...
but i have a litlle problem:distance between water surface and place where I could suspend the lamp is 20cm.practically between water surface and the lamp would be a max 10cm. though I want to bring 3x150w metal halide+2 actinic t5 ho 39w.or just bring t5 ho 6x39w actinic? I wish I would be better advised to make taking into account the short distance between water surface and the lamp. thank you |

Actinics would be enough if your tank isn't too deep but wont provide the shimmer of MH.

Should be fine.
I would go with half 10k half Actinic.

t5's all the way, you would be too close for MH's. not to mention the bulb configurations for color, growth, etc. I don't have the thread link handy but check out the t5 thread. I run 6 39w t5's on my 65 with great results. If you have a hood you could retro and possibly get 7 or 8 bulbs depending on what you wanted. I'm in the process to finish my retro and add 1 more bulb for a total of 7. good luck
