I have a cherub in my 65g and it has never even looked at my clam. It does clean the sides of the clam sometimes, but never touches the mantle. I dont have algae issues, so I rarely see it picking around, but it will swim the tank and pick at stuff everyonce in a while, so it does go after algae.

sounds like a perfect excuse for an upgrade! That's what I did . I had to convince the wife that I needed a bigger tank more than she needed a few new pairs of shoes.

If you have algae you have phosphates. A standard phosphate test kit doesn't tell much.
+1, algae gets its nurishment from the sources listed above. When all is removed algae growth will deminish and eventually disapear. adding fish will only add to problam as stated by others and once the algae Dissipates you will have to feed that fish.
