Deciding on lighting....

Guess this should go in my build thread but anyways.....

Over the past few weeks I have been trying various lighting combinations out over my new tank. (92x35x28H)

You can see in this shot the Lumenbright Large reflector on the left and the Lumenmax Large in the middle and right.

PAR measurements

In that tank picture above, there is a Hamilton 14k 1000w lamp in that Lumenbright reflector.

Lumenbright + Coralvue 400W + Radium 20K + 20" water to lamp

These numbers seem very low to me, can anyone else comment?

Bottom line is I am evaluating 3x400w or 2x1000w setups. Next I'm going to try a Reeflux 14k in the Lumenbright at 20" to compare lamp PAR.

To avoid deadspots in the tank, 3x400 lamps would need to be at least 20" off the water.

with 2x1000w (Hamilton 14k lamps), there would be no dead spots in the tank and the par is VERY strong.

So I want what everyone else wants, everything. High PAR, no dead spots, as little heat as possible, and with using the least amount of power. hahaha

2x1000 is easier than going 4x400 it seems.

I would also really like to test a 1000w 20K lamp as well. I am curious to see the blue tint at 1000w as well as compare the PAR to the 14k I have.

Anyone have a 1000w 20K lamp I can borrow for this test? I'd hate to buy 2 and then not use them.

Does anyone know the PAR degradation percentage from a 1000W 14k to a 20k lamp?

Ok, last post here for me....

Will 2x1000W's be a considerable amount of heat more than 4x400W's?
