jobu28 I see you live in NY. Although most reputable online reef vendors (most of the sponsors here on RC) package their shipments with heat/cool packs depending on the season, it is especially chilly up there now. I'm in MD and have had a couple shipments arrive dead. I used 2 big name vendors that are sponsors here on RC and it was not their fault. They were shipped with heat packs and were overnight shipped, but it was just way too cold. Again I'm not bashing them at all, they did everything right. I just don't suggest ordering livestock during winter.

Thanks for the heads up. I ship reptiles using heat packs with no issues(hopefully didnt jinx myself), but i guess fish are a little more delicate. Will keep it in mind.

If you do find something online, try to pick it up at the local fedex/ups location. Your packages won't be stuck in a truck all day that way, and you can pick them up when they open in the AM.

Ordering in the winter is riskier, watch the weather and at least try to time it with some moderate weather.
