I would say they could without a doubt find their way to the top. I have heard however that while they can be a nuisance, they are filter feeders and will help in that sense. I just nuke em' all when I see them. Why risk it...IMO

I don't think they'd last long in the top because I think my peppermints would be on top of things, but I'll keep the crab in mind if there seems to be some crazy outbreak in the sump, I don't want a whole bunch entering the tank at one time.

I've seen aitapsia grown in the sump on purpose. Large UV sterilizer in line after the return pump used to zap any spores or pieces that attempt to make their way into the display.

Will the uv harm the copepods or any other tiny organisms?

An arrow crab will eat aiptasia, I did not know this. I have a purple pseudochromis he will eat shrimp so a crab would work for me.

It snuck its way to the sump from the DT I don't see why it couldn't get back up As far as arrow crabs eating aiptasia goes, it could be true but I have never heard of this before. I would do more research on that one before I went out and purchased a crab

Well it's been in there for a while now I suppose, but nothing up top, I think that's due to my peppermint shrimp, but I'm not saying it'll never happen, its starting to spread a little more in the sump so that's why I decided to ask
