octopus vs. vertex

I need a skimmer for my 50G DT with 29G sump which totals to aroud 70~75 gallons.

The choices i have are:

vertex IN 80
octopus dnwb 110

Which is better and why? any epxeriences with these skimemrs?

If you guys have any other choices of skimmer aoud this price range, let me know.

need to chose and purchase ASAP.

Comparing the 2 I cant do, but comparing the octopus 200 extreme to the vertex in180... hands down the vertex.

I have the octopus dnwb 110 running on my 30G DT + 25G Fuge. I am very happy with it - it pulls out a ton of gunk. I would say, however, that it is fairly loud. Having never seen (or heard) the Vertex, I can't compare.

I love my vertex in80. I have a total water volume of around 65 gallons and it works wonders. Fills the cup every 4 days.

I do like my IN80 too. It was a tad noisy at first but now it's barely noticeable. Had it about 6 months now.

Haha, at first I thought this thread was about your live octopus and how it either dismantled a powerhead (or was dismantled by a powerhead).
