New Tank Cycle

Moved rock from 25 gallon nano to 40 breeder with new sand. It's my understanding that all new tank builds go through a cycle - dyno, cyano, hair algae. Just want to know if this is accurate. Do all tanks go through this cycle and how long should I expect it to last considering the live rock was from an old tank?

+1 you shouldn't see a cycle and if there is one it'll be quick and you may not see it.

Yeah, I'm starting to see the dynos start to cover the new sand. I remember reading somewhere, that there will be a cycle regardless. Something about establishing bacteria in the new sand (this is new sand, not old sand from the old tank).

Cured rock

I used cured rock from my 90 to my 120 used new sand bed and the cycle took 6 + weeks . I got this huge crop of what looked like brown cob webs, If i had it to do over I would first use a 200 micron sock on my line into the sump and change itevery 2 days. I thought it would never go away...

I set up my biocube that way with rock and water from my 55g. I never noticed a nitrate spike but I did go thru that algae cycle . Took about a month.

Have you got that bright yellow green algae on the glass and rock yet. If i remember right that is what I saw first. the stuff would come off easy with a swish of my hand but would be back in like 4 hours till it stablized.
