Aquactinics is coming out with a T5/LED combo.. I'm hoping it's not too pricey.

I switched from T5's to MH on my SPS tank. The tank is 25x16x17. I had 8x24W T5 over it about 3-4" from the water with some corals about 2" from the top of the water. Even so, some of my corals just wouldn't color up or grow. My blue milli stayed brown and barely grew; another unknown SPS which was a beautiful blue when I got it, turned brown and barely grew at all in almost two years. I picked up a 20" Sunpod 250W and it's been over the tank for maybe 2-3 weeks. My blue milli is starting to color up and is finally starting to grow. The other blue acro is looking way better than it has the whole time I've had it and finally getting good polyp extension. My blue digita is gradually going from brown to blue as well. If the tank were longer and I could put higher watt T5s over it, the corals probably would've been fine. That's just my experience.

Back on topic: I've used both MH and T5 separately but now use both. The T5 supplements my MH and allows me to have a longer photoperiod to enjoy my tank while I'm home.
it is a drip acclamation tube I just took a IV line and cut it so I can adjust my drip easy.

I'm getting ready to build a canopy for my 120, 48 by 24. As planned right now, I can fit two 250 watt MH and four T-5's. Cooling will be fans sucking in and free venting out the open back.
