lights for eclipse 3 hood?
I just picked up a used 29 gallon tank that I plan to use for a QT. It came with an eclipse 3 hood/filter system. One light does not come on and the other is ready to go. What 24" T8 bulbs should I use to replace them?

Hi- been awhile since i've been on forum. i know this is an old thread, but i find myself in same position. i bought the eclipse last night used. one light didn't come on. he said the bulb was old and i think he was being honest. so i just thought i would test before buying new bulb, so i switched bulbs. the bulbs work, but the fixture doesn't for the one side. the other works fine. I've played around for hours with it today. went to lighting store, hardware store, radio shack, petsmart, and sent micro pics to uncle who's master electrician. anyway, can't get it to work. is there kits at a reasonable price to just swap out the innards (cords, etc) without having to buy wol new set up. this was a great deal because of price. i planned on upgrading down the road, but can't afford now. I know it can be fixed, but i'm not electronically inclined. any thoughts or suggestions for an old reefer?

I figured it out. The parts nobody could identify, not even my uncle who's been a master electrician for 35+ years, not to mention Frys, Radio Shack, 4 hardware stores, and 5 LFS. Well it's because the parts are the light and capacitor from inside a standard ballast started. The just weren't in casing like we're used to seeing. Hence, nobody recognized. I bought two today, ripped the insides out, and sure enough.........my missing unidentifiable electronic components. All is working now, so now on to the next issue. What bulbs did I get and are they going to work till I get to my metal halide. Does anyone know. I bought it used in great condition, but don't know even if they were stock bulbs or ones he bought. It's kind of tricky. One looks like your typical daylight bulb and the other is blue, but not sure if actinic or just looks to be. The writing is worn. any ideas from people who own this set up what I have and more importantly what I can upgrade the bulbs to-maximum output-without changing fixture, just changing bulbs? Please if you know or have experience, share with someone who's done nothing but nanos for the last five years. I'm out of touch with larger tank needs. It's not large, just bigger than the 6 and 12 gallon I'm used to. It's 30 gallons. Thanks in advance for advice.
