Phosphate Reactor Media...
I am going to get a Phosban 150 reactor by Two Little Fishies and would like some advice in regards to what media to use. I am getting a little algae currently as my phosphates are around 0.2. I am hoping that ruinning a phosphate reactor will help out.
I have heard good things about Phosguard. But ultimately, I am wondering if I should go with a product such as Seachems Sea Gel which has a combination of phosphate media and carbon in one. I want to know if running carbon along with it will be advantageous. Or am I better off just running a phosphate media by itself? Perhaps down the road when my phosphate levels are down carbon may be a good idea? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. |

I like using Seagel. It is a phosphate and carbon combo. Works great for me.

Sea Gel seems like a good product. I think I will start with Phosban to initially take care of my phosphate issue and then try the Sea Gel down the road. Newby question but what benefits does running carbon have other than 'polishing' the water?

Just got the bulk reef supply dual reactor. Works great. Run GFO and Carbon. Easy to change media. Comes with valve to adjust water flow. Great buy

I will check it out. Do you need to buy a pump for it?

Does it need to be mounted or can it stand on the ground?

I have both the tlf and BRS reactors - I like them both - the tlf is great for smaller tanks (mines on a 60) the BRS (i got 2 singles so i can adjust flow better for each) is on my 150 w/120fuge and 50 sump. The tlf runs great on a minijet 400 - the brs either needs a pump (MJ 600?) or, as I have done, i just run it off my DIY manifold from my main return pump (dart)
Check out BRS for their GFO and carbon - best prices around IMO
