I prefer the Oolitic Select sand. The Special Grade Reef sand is just too big of a grain for me. To each his own!

agreed. To each his own.

Years down the road you can always remove the oolitic from the DT (like I did)

My main concern is whether the MP40s will stir up the sand. I'm not sure which size to use to avoid this.

I used 4 40 bags in my 225 and have 2 mp40's on it. I got this substrate becuase multiple people told me it would blow blow around with the vortechs.

They were right. Also didn't rinse it.

smaller size sands are more easily blown around

Oops I ment to say would NOT blow around with vortechs.

This is a great substrate to use with vortechs.

I've got nothing but special grade in my 150, with 2 MP40s. It doesn't blow around at all.
