detritus in my water column
I have a bare-bottom reef that i just moved cross-country about a month ago. I seem to have lots of detritus flowing around the water column. I have tons of flow and there is no detritus found on the bottom glass ... anywhere, due to my rock being pegged on pillars and having flow all around them. My water quality is great and sps look good even after the stress of two moves in 3 months. What do you think may be causing this? I have two theories:
1. The Rock is just shedding from all the shuffle from the move and it could take a while for the system to cleanse. Note: I did not cook the rock 2. I have so much flow in there that the detritus is having a hard time making it into the overflow to be removed by the filter socks or skimmer. The system is a 180gal, 2 Tunze 6100, 4 Koralia 4s, 1400gph return on Penductors, MSX 250 skimmer, filter sock Thanks for your help! |

You have work to do concerning the flow dynamics of your system. You're going to have to play around with the directional outputs to get the flow to cascade over the overflow. No big woop - just experiment.
