Chaeto leaves

I searched around on the net for an answer, but I could not find anything. My chaeto is turning from a ball of string to leaves. Has anyone ever seen this happen? Do you have any ideas about it?
My tank is fairly new, around 2 weeks old. LFS said it was ok to add it to my sump.
