Calcium ?

Is ther such a thing as too much calcium. From what I have seen optimal Ca is more around 420-450, but mine is at 540. Does this higher amount of Ca in the water affect different corals in any way?

if it gets too high it could become a problem james. but unless it starts snowing in your tank i will say that theres no need to worry now, usually if the calcium is too high its because you either have a salt with a high calcium level or other parameters are out of sync, or your over dosing a calcium product.

imo your reading isnt too bad at all, some salts have these levels and serious reefers prefer a reading like yours, i think its fine, by the way, what salt mix are you using? and are you adding a calcium supplement?

It shouldn't effect corals unless your Alk is low because of the high Ca

I started with Oceanic, but have since changed to RC. I understand that Oceanic has higher Ca levels and overall somewhat inconsistant in other areas. I initially went this route to to hearing some people the high levels of Ca, but after further reading I opted to go another direction. Since then I have switched to RC due to numerous reviews and other consistancy factors. I would say that with my water changes most of the Oceanic has been replaced, or at least 75% of it. Since I still have a fairly large bucket of Oceanic salt and will be mixing it in here and there. Thanks for your replies thus far!

Last readings two days ago were:
Ca- 540
KH-10
NO-2.0
PO-0
Mg-1300
Amonia 0
