Aquacontroller II to Ethernet

A long time ago I read some posts about connecting my acq2 to the internet via a linksys router and a gridconnect serial to ethernet adapter. Well I finally decided to give it a try and I am totally confused. I have a linksys router WRK54G - will this one work? I have the serial cable for the acq2 controller. I have the gridconnect serial to ethernet adapter. I have read about several programs available - I just do not know how to get started.

I know that there are some bluetooth options now - I really did not want to spend any more money of possible. Any help would be appreciated.
