Pumps

I am thinking about getting a couple of these for my 55 gal mixed reef tank. Do you think that 2 Turbelle Tunze Nanostream 6025 (660 US gal./h) would be enough or should I go with 2 Turbelle Tunze Nanostream 6045 (1,189 US gal./h)? Right now I have 4 Koralia 2's and I have 2 of them on wavemaker timer, but not sure how long they will last turning on/off.

I would go with the 6045's, more juice and gives room to upgrade. But DO NOT run these on wavemakers, i literally almost totaled my 6045 by doing that. Wiz

I would go with the larger ones as well. The nanostreams are really meant for...well nanos. 2 6045 would be a perfect amount of flow for your tank IMO.

Sooo....they are not good for wavemakers then? I want 2 pumps that I can control with my Reefkeeper Lite. Any suggestions?

The new koralia's should suit your needs. They state they will have a smaller footprint and can be use on a 15min timer, new shaft, and..dah, duh, dah..so on

I thought the new Koralias were designed only to work with the Hydor wavemaker and would not work on their own

IMO nano rated pumps are too weak even for nano tanks. I would go with the next step up at a minimum.

the " new" koralias aren't out until feb- mar this year. All can be controlled by ANY wavemaker and they have normal plugs with a shaftles propeller

Ok, I guess I will wait for those to come out and try them out.

Update:

Koralia 2 wavemaker = FAIL. The little tab on the shaft holder that stops the prop from spinning in the wrong direction just broke off. D'oh!
