light on Chaeto?

I picked up a big wad of Chaeto this weekend, and with some eggcrate and zip ties, have made it a nice home in my sump...

I have a regular 75w desk lamp rigged up for light, is this adequate?

thanks,
brandon

I'm not at home right now for the exact specifics, but Home Depot and Lowe's both sell a floodlight style 18watt+- 5500K +- compact fluorescent bulb that will work great in your desk lamp fixture. Better than a standard flood light; less heat and power consumed and the correct color.

I second that just get a bulb from home depot or lowes 5500k+ 13w and you should be fine.

They also have a 6500K one that I've heard is supposed to work better. I ended up with the 90W equivalent one.

Walmart has 2 spiral compact fluorescent 6500k for $4.50. It has a big 6500k right on the front of the package. They also have LED floor lights in 6500k for $20. They are a little more expensive, but will last forever and are really cheap to run.

Careful with expecting LEDs to last forever............

Thanks for the replies... less power used and less heat is always a good thing.

LED's will last a very long time, if you have the proper cooling in place. Any idea how many lumens the $20 ones put out?
