How Hot?

How hot should ballasts get? I have recently added 2 250x MH lights with each has its own ARO ballast... Also.... I have 1 ballast for 2 54 watt t5HO....I have always had the whole hood setup with flourescents so I never paid attention to how hot this getts.... My ballasts are mounted at the bottom of my stand outside of it... the MH ballasts are slightly hotter than the HO ballast.... they are not too hot to touch but are pretty hot.... I don't know hot to describe how hot?? anyway... should they be only slightly warm to touch I would describe them as hot but not super hot like the lights are...
