Controling GSP

What's the best way to control this stuff? I have some that is encrusting and creeping up some rock that I would like to get rid of. Can it be peeled of the rock in any way? Help!

Like Xenia GSP is a very invasive coral. You can cut and peel to keep it in somewhat control but sooner or later it will take over the tank. Either sell the rock or go the Fluke Tab route and kill it off. Those are your choices as I see it...

Fluke Tabs are a medicine for fish who contract Flukes. It's a reef safe drug except for Xenia and GSP. I had a tank that we being taken over by both GSP and Xenia a couple of years ago (newbie mistake) and had no choice but to use a Fluke Tab. It did the trick and both of these corals are now gone...thank God!

Is there any way to isolate the GSP? It would be pretty to just have a rock of it on the sand, would it spread? (Sorry if dumb ?, total noob here).

I like to place rock rubble around my GSP. When it spreads I pull the rubble out and trade them as frags.

I've never head of the fluke tab option either, interesting. I have a soft spot for both GSP and xenia (some of the first corals I ever kept), but have kept them out of my DT. One day I'll have a separate tank with large leathers and LPS where the xenia and GSP can go nuts.

1. Go to the LFS and buy Fluke Tabs.
2. Take one tablet and dissolve it in some tank water.
3. Pour into tank.
4. In about 3 days do a partial WC while syphoning out dead GSP/Xenia.
5. One week do another WC and syphon out dead tissue.
6. Change carbon.
7. Done.

Know one thing, Xenia and GSP will never again be able to live in your tank once you do this. Also, Fluke Tabs can kill shrimp if you have them in your tank.

I did this and it completely got rid of all my Xenia and GSP that we overtaking my tank.

The GSP will spread over sand. However, since its sand, it cant really get a grip. So, yes... you can have a rock with GSP on it all by itself surrounded by sand. Just give it plenty of room ( a few inches at least, to the nearest rock) and trip the creeping edges off every so often. I would say make sure the rock is pretty small so you can just pull it out for maintenance.
