Giesemann lighting systems directly from Europe
Hi all - Giesemann has released a new HQI fixture with T5 supplementation. (Called the Reflexx Plus Nano according to online sources).
The fixture is only available in Europe as of now, and there is a distributor that can ship it to the states, but he warned me that it is 230v/50hz. What is required to be able to use the light here in the States? I believe our electric standard is 110v/60hz, please correct me if i'm wrong... Is there a transformer that can be used?? thanks in advanced! philip |

Yes you can buy a converter, voltagesuperstore.com. I would not recommed this. I considered buying a Deltec skimmer from Germany when the exchange rate was favorable many years ago. I decided against it since some appliances perform best within a specific frequency. So you might not get optimal performance.
Also Giesemann products are awesome, but their customer services leaves much to be desired. It would be difficult to deal with a overseas distributor if you need extra parts etc. My LFS disassociated with Giesemann for this reason. They would receive a shipment of light fixtures and no ballast. That kind of thing. |
