lugol's solution as a coral dip

i have question regarding the use of this product as a coral dip. The directions state to use purified water with the required drops of the solution. (I assume RO/DI fresh water). Then submerse coral for 10 - 12 minutes in the mix.
I plan to dip a couple of acro frags i just picked up but wondering if they will tolerate 10 - 12 minutes in a fresh water dip.
Any experience/feedback would be appreciated.
thanks

When dipping corals watch for excess sliming. Sliming is a sign of stress. I use lugols to dip corals all of the time. Make sure to use RO water and match PH and temp as close as possible.

I dont use fresh water. I usually use the water in the bag the corals come in and I'll add fresh saltwater or tank water to that if needed. why risk shocking corals in freshwater when lugols in proper concentration works great as a dip in saltwater. all my sps get a lugols dip. I have never freshwater dipped anything but fish and even then I temp and pH match (a little alk buffer does the trick).

I agree don't use fresh water just use salt from the bag the top off with your tank water.
