So I have had a FOWLR 55 gallon for about 2 years now ever since upgrading from a 29 a year before that. I am getting a nano tank and was wondering if I can keep an anemone in it under power compacts...I think the watts per gallon will be around 4.7 and it's only an 8 gallon so not very deep. I really don't want to get an expensive metal halide fixture if I don't need to. I was just thinking of putting in 2 juvenile perculas (1 inch to 1.5 inches) and an anemone and then moving the stuff to my 55 when the fish or anemone gets too big. So I'm just wondering if you can keep an anemone under pc's or if you need to go metal halide for them to live.
Thanks, Jason |

I think it would be fine. If it is not happy, you will know. Because it will move around a lot.

Which leads me to answering the OP's question. NO. You cannot/should not keep an anemone in an 8 gallon tank. That's simply ludicrous. Depending on the species, they grow from 6 to 18 inches in diameter. Moreover, you certainly shouldn't keep two clowns in that small bucket. If you want to do something cool with a nano, do a mushroom tank or some zoanthids. |

I don't think you should have a anemone in a tank that small as stated above.. They need alot more room than that to grow and be happy!

Which anemone are you wanting to keep, OP? The desirable ones are rather difficult to maintain.
