Broken Light

It's a 48" 2 light fixture t5 bulbs. They both stopped working. I changed the bulb and nothing. I started tapping the bulb and it would flicker, and come on after tapping enough. The other light wouldn't do anything at all. Where should I start? Looking at it for a friend.

Id say loose connections/corrosion at the sockets or loose wires. What brand is it?

I'll have to look tomorrow. I asked him and did a quick look and didn't see a brand name. The light comes on and kind of hums, but it's not fully on. It's like a zebra stripe effect. If you move the bulb from left to right it'll do the same thing as well.

You peaked my curiousity and I went and took a look. I can't find any brand on it at all. There isn't much to the light itself. A shell with little room on the end where the 2 switches are, I can see the wire's coming out from there hooking up to the light, and they seem fine. I looked at the contacts and they seem fine, no buildup etc. I found a sticker inside the lamp area, and it says A I with a bunch of other stuff. Like a "check list" and when it was made. 2005 of the 6th month. I will say it feels cheaply made compared to the coralife pc fixture I have. It feels like the shell is made of cheap thin aluminum, but it still works, a little, and it's not mine, so I don't wanna trash it. A light to him is better than no light at all. But he thought it just broke and left it sitting there.
