DI Water
I have a DI filter and have used it to start my first ever saltwater tank. I do not have a RO unit. Am I setting myself up for failure?

It will work, just very expensive. Your di resin will clog quickly, compared to a whole ro/di system.

It depends on your water source. Some people use only Di, but in a much bigger capacity, not a small cartridge. And they separate the anion and cation apart. If you have a lot of tds in your water, then your cartridge is most likely spent. There is a way to recharge the resins, but again, if you have high tds then its not worth it. Your probably better off getting an ro to go with your di. I spend 40$ every six months to change filters, and recharge my own di. Probably cost me 370$ to set It all up though.
