Guess I will have to put the Mandarin on hold until my 90 is up and running for awhile. I plan to have a 30g sump with a fuge, so hopefully it'll all work out.
Are you willing to brew your own copepods & phyto? It's not hard, a couple of 5 gallon home depot buckets and phyto and you are good to go. I won't say this too loud, i've kept my a male mandarin for over 5 years in a 10 gal tank. I sup fed it with home brew live copepods on a weekly basis. But than again, I was the crazy one with with a 10gal refugium and 20gal sump with over 40lb of LR attached to my 10gal display. His roommates where to rowdy false perc's.

I also hatched brine too but that was twice a month feeding. If you are willing to put in the initial startup time it will work out. With an ATO, I was able to go on week long vacations without issue. My mandarin was fat and happy.

I agree with those that say that take is too small unless you get one that eats frozen food and not an easy task. Like the poster above said, you can raise copepods which is rather easy. I raised copepods when I was breeding fish in a couple 2 gallon tanks with phyto and cheato in. Allot of work for one fish though and not worth it.
