Help ID this please...

No idea what this is. The rocks have been sitting in black garbage cans for 1/2 a month and before that have been in a running tank for a couple of years. not sure how this thing came along!

hard to tell from the picture but it could be a sponge

Current Tank Info: 150gal long mixed reef, 90gal sump, 60 gal refugium with 200 lbs live rock

Well, I put it in Photoshop and adjusted the contrast and it does look like a sponge. No worries, there good guys.

I did some more research and it looks like these are called qtip sponges. Not sure yet if they are a good or bad thing, though I did read that they may be a side affect of poor quality of water.
