Permeate Pump on RO Filter

I am considering adding a permeate pump to our reverse osmosis filter. If I understand correctly, this piece is supposed to reduce the amount of wastewater by reducing back-pressure. Has anyone tried a permeate pump and if so have the results been worth it. Thanks for any input.

I don't know enough about RO/DI to help, but some of our vendors are good with technical help, if no one else responds.
