Top Fathom skimmer

Anyone no much about these skimmers? A friend has a tf200a I'm thinking about buying if they are good or not.

Thanks,
Mockery

I have a TF500 that I recently removed from my system after running it for years with mediocre results. Just before I removed it, I got it to work great. They key was removing the venturi top fathom valves that it came with and replacing them with Mezzei injectors. The TF ones were kind of cheesy in my opinion. That made all the difference in the world. I spent $40 per injector (the 500 has 2) and it really started to kick butt! I had a new Barr Beckett skimmer that was just sitting there so I ended up changing it out but it really had some serious potential with a good set of venturi's. The key is to match the correct venturi valve to the pump you will be using. Mezzei determined what I needed for the Little Giant pump I was running the skimmer with based on its flow and they were dead on.

In the end, it comes down to what it will cost you. They can be a decent skimmer if set up right.

Thanks for your opinion. It is still not cheap wanting around 100 for it.

i had a tf100A up and running afor about 6months and i loved it. i did not use the TF venturi tube either and ran a sedra 5000 instead. it worked great and i never had a problem. i ended up selling the tank it was on and never ended up using it again so i sold it.
