What ever you do don't put it in your pool... I made that mistake and it turned my pool green fast due to the high levels of phosphate!

There is not really a whole lot more phoshphate in the RO waste than your regular tap water, maybe 20% more or so.

I've put it in my pool, but that isn't what turned it green. The fish poo did.

Actually Florida has extremely high phosphates in our ground water to start with. The waste shouldn't be much more than the tap water though. It should be approximately 10% more than the source water (that's on the high side).
And the phosphate scare in swimming pools is something new. Pools have been operating successfully without the concern of phosphates for decades. If they are sky high and nothing else will work, then as a last resort, spend the bucks for the phosphate remover. However, if breakpoint chlorination will do the job, go for the cheaper. |

The TDS of my tap water is 160 ppm today. The waste is 163 ppm. The pre-DI water is 23 ppm.
The increase in TDS of only 3ppm indicates that the increase in phosphates is neglegible when considering the tap water. |

Maybe this thread should be renamed Salty's pool thread.
By the way Salty, I'll take care of your pool real cheap...as long as I can put some fish in it. :grinno: |

CHOMPERS MFK how long has your DI resin been lasting? Running 20+TDS through DI will use it up very fast. I think it is time to replace your membrane you are only getting about a 85% rejection rate new membranes usually get 95% or better.

I collect my waste water into 2 50 gallons trashcans and then I have that water injected into my sprinkler system. And just in case my sprinkler system doesn't use all that water, I have a valve on the trashcans that I turn on that will water the bushes.

I put mine on 50 gallon drum and used it to water the lawn and trees and wash the driveway with. There's a lot you can do with the waste water like mentioned above by posters.
