Ato

Alright I know this has been disscussed in the past but after my simple float valve ATO for RO-DI failed on Sunday I started to wonder if there was a better way.

I did a search and found many opinions and options but I am still undecided how I want to go.
My float valve was only ten months old when it failed , fortunately I was doing tank maintanance at the time and noticed before disaster struck.

So whats working for you and how long ?

Thanks Tim

For water storage I use a simple float valve and it's in a location where if it overflows, it just runs out into the driveway. It's rare but I've seen it happen a couple of times. No biggie.

For my ATO I use a large container of settled Kalk solution. I use a dosing pump and a controller to deliver the kalk from the storage tank in the garage to the sump in the house. This setup covers 99% of all my dosing requirements. The controller manages the water levels and monitors for pH spikes during dosing among other things. I mix kalk once or twice per month and it takes about 5 minutes. I've been running this setup for the last few years.

How did it fail? If your using just ro/di it shouldn't fail, other than salt creep causing it to stick open. I know i ad my float valve stick open, that was when i was topping off with kalk. I hadn't noticed the calcium build up. I hate to say this, any ato system has the potential to fail. I had a autotopoff.com dual stage fail, but failed stuck closed. I was lucky. I'm now using the JBJ, no issues so far.

Not sure why it failed but when I change it over this weekend I will look into it further , manual top off is a pain in the #$$.

It's a simple float valve made by Corralife and it just wont shut of anymore.
