Large AIO (50+ gallon)
Im looking for some ideas, ive been eye balling a 36*30*22 (100 gallon) dim tank and like the simplicity of AIO tanks. Ive seen a few builds recently with this style of tank, but i cant for the life of me find any of them with the search function.

Very well thought out, is that yours?
My only hold out is the skimmer. With false wall, it seems like my skimmer choices would be limited to a hang on...which i dont mind, but i dont like the added noise they bring and routing water outside of the main tank kind of defeats one of the nice features of having an AIO tank. |

I drew up some plans last night on sketch up, and it immediately became apparent that no matter what i did the tank simply could not be as quiet as one with a sump to dampen the noise of the skimmer. Anyone have a differing opinion on this?
Im about to ditch this idea... |

Don't waste your time trying to go sumpless. It can be done, but the vast majority of people run a sump for a reason.

My LFS has a 1500g all in one acrylic tank for holding sharks. No skimmer, just frequent water changes and a chamber in the back with a ton of bioballs. They do run an external pump though.
