Fuge Lighting Question
I am doing a diy fuge light and I'm wondering what is the best K level for a fuge light? I am currently using a 8.5" reflective cone clamp light that I got from Home Depot with a normal twist in CF, I found a 5500K and a 6500K is one better than the other for algies? And will this setup work or is there some other lighting option that works better?
Thanks, Dan |

65000K is the best of the two bulbs. However, what size is the fuge and are you planning to keep anything in there other than some LR and chaeto?

My Fuge section of my sump is 10.25" wide x 10.25 long and to the water line is 14" deep. I currently have a deep sand bed and was planning on putting in some chaeto or other macro algies.... I have another chamber that has about 10lbs of live rock in the sump.
What is recommended for the fuge as far as DSB, LR, macro's, any critters? Currently I have the 100w equivalent at 5500K as it was 2 bulbs for $3. The other bulb I mentioned was a 200w equivalent at 6500K and was $9. |

I would layer the deep sand bed: medium grade argonite--layer of sugar fine argonite--top layer of medium argonite. I would not suggest you put anything else in the fuge such as fish or crabs as they will reduce the population of copopods and other inverts that you want for the display tank
