moving tanks
I am moving my 20 g tank into a 29 g downstairs to my house whats the best way to move live rock snails and live sand without causing disaster

The hardest part is the sand. I would think you could do the transfer in about 1 hour or two. The live rock I would place in buckets with some of the water from your 20 gallon tank and put your fish in inverts in another bucket. Save all the water. I would use a dust pan (a new one) and scoop all of the sand out of the the old tank and into the new tank. Then i would add the live rock and water. Let it settle and then add the rest of the water with fish and inverts. Then some fresh saltwater to top off the new tank. make sure you watch you tanks perms because you would be moving your sand.
Wait until you get another opinion, because I've only move big tanks where a spike won't effect you as much. |

same as above but i think i would buy new sand if it has a lot of brown gunk in it

I agree with keeping the live rock in water as much as possible. That step often gets overlooked.
