Do I need a better light?
I just looked at my light on my 29 gallon and it was a T8 8,000k light. Will this be acceptable for a reef tank with corals?

I'm guessing it's not a VHO bulb or bulbs. I would say you would need T5 High Output (HO) at a minimum. At least a two bulb set up to keep any corals.
So I would say it may not be acceptable. |

Yeah, that's what I though. How much would one of these cost me?

Check out the 30'' Sundial 4x24w. T5 fixture. It'll work great for your tank and allow you to house different types of corals/clams.
