you see that big rock in the middle? Hows about having that higher with a smaller rock under it? I like the bit on the left. Try 2 islands.

Yeah thats a big rock though. I'd not have it like that. I'd have it on a smaller rock as an island on its own on one side of the tank. Have a struture on the other of smaller rocks and have some open space in the middle. What do u like though? Thats only what i'd do. You may like one thing-i like another. All personal preference. I do think more space for corals growing and fish swimming is the way to go though. Did you look at the youtube tank i recomended?

Not the island look but i like it. You could do this on one half of your tank and have the big rock on the other half, an island with leathers on it?

It's pretty hard to suggest to people what to do with their rocks. It's pretty much do as you please when you set up how you want your tank. I have rebuilt my rock structures about 5 times in a 20gal which I had running for 4 years, and already 4 times in my 54gal which I've had running for only a little over a year. I had my tank setup kind of how you had your set up, with the back of the tank lined with rock. I thought that was what I wanted, and I kept it like that for some time, but then I took it all out and started over. I ended up with the basic solitary island in the center of my tank, but I'm much more happy with it than what I had before. Here are 2 pics to show how much different I made my tank just by moving the rock:

Here's how I had it set up to begin with.

And how it is now:

If I had your tank, I might try to make 2 seperate triangular shaped islands with a channel between the two for fish to swim through. Definitely try to make more than one rock structure if you can. It adds more of an interesting display and more to look at when you can split the tank up somewhat.

I like that tank from the video too. You'd have to really take some time and work with what you have, or find some very specific rocks to make something like that.

Just keep playing with it till you find something you like. Don't start adding frags till you are happy with your rocks cause they are a real pain to protect from damage if you decide to redo your rocks after your tank is full of coral

What about breaking large rocks up or gluing some together to make one long rock?

You've had several posts about doing the rock 'island' look so none of the rock touch the glass. Personally I like the rock wall look. I want about 4-6" of sand in the front and then slope the rock up against the back glass. It provides lots of places for corals and with different amounts of light. I hate fake backgrounds and tanks where the plumbing etc show thru the back glass. My rock reaches almost to the top of the back glass (a 75g tank). I'll do a similar look when I set up my new 180g. But that's just me, other's opinions may vary!

I like that look on the Youtube video also, but you definitely need to build what you like. No matter what you build, someone on here is going to say, "That's great!" and someone else will say, "That's ok, but look what I did." So just keep at it and you'll finally be satisfied, at least for a while.

Thanks for the thumbs up, Silverfly.
