Giesemann Megachrome 150w 14.5k

Any experiences with this bulb?

I've used both 14k Phoenix and 14k Aquaconnect and wouldn't mind something a little "whiter and brighter." I like both which are, essentially, the same bulb but there is just something that seems...incomplete.

I've heard comment that the G-mann is a nice crisp white with a hint of blue on a magnetic HQI ballast. Unfortunately Sanjay's sight is little help for this bulb.

Any thoughts on colouration or PAR?

sorry no experience with the g-mann, but if you want whiter and brighter with a hint of blue you might look into the radium 20k

Thanks.

I had considered the Radium as well - the 150W version doesn't seem to be a real common bulb though in Canada, at least.

I just found this article with some good information which suggests the g-mann 14.5 has a slight edge over the Radium on an M81 in PAR although not enough to make a big difference. The Icecap 14k (I didn't even know icecap made bulbs!) is a beast though and on an M81 appears to outperform (PPFD) most everything else in the 150w category.

Giesemann has less par and much more yellowish for these both.

I have heard that pristine water is required with the g-mann to avoid a yellowish tint, however Sanjay's article seems to suggest the g-mann outperforms the aquaconnect (which is the same as the Phoenix)

I have heard a lot more positive reviews of the Pheonix and Radium bulbs over the Giesemann. I saw 1 really nice tank that ran the Giesemann bulbs, but he had T5's also. And they are really expensive aren't they like over $100 per bulb?
