euro reef pump upgrade or new skimmer

I have a euro reef cs 400 that has at least 1 bad pump possibly 2.It only fills about 1/3 of mixing chamber w/bubbles.I checked on pump prices from euro reef at over 300.0 each.I can buy another skimmer for that price. Is there a better or cheaper pump available that will work on this skimmer ?or should I just buy another skimmer?

did you pull the pumps and run them in vinegar water to make sure they are just not dirty?

Do you have the 5" diameter neck? If so then the SWC Askoll 1500 pump would be a great upgrade. It pulls 2100+ LPH of air. A considerable amount more than the ER pumps. It's also more reliable and quieter. You would only need to buy one pump.

you may also want to try replacing just the impeller. I had an 8-2 that started struggling and replacing the impeller brought it back to like new performance. If that doesn't work and you're happy with the skimmer I'd replace the pump since you're def going to pay more than $300 for a nicer skimmer. That said I replaced my ER with a bubble king SM250 and WISH I would have done it a long time ago even though it was a significant investment. The difference in performance and the noticeable improvement in water quality was ridiculous.

I've also had pumps I thought were done with but by changing the impeller it got them running great again. Its much cheaper than replacing a pump.

Which pumps do you have? Gen-x 4100 or the Sedra 5000?
