Question Metal halide question

The unit im looking at is 4 yrs old. 250 watts

Question's are is will it put out alot of heat ?

Also will it cost more to run than my nova extreme2-24watt bulbs ?

lastly will it cause more evaporation ?

It will put out a lot more heat than the nova extreme. Each fixture is slightly different, but a watt is a watt when it comes to heat.

It will cost more to run and likely cause additional evaporation as well.

Yes, it'd cost about 5 times as much to run as 2 24 watt bulbs. MH and T5 HO are about equal in efficiency. The MH might provide 5 times as much light, might not. How big is the tank?

Regardless of the type of light, just look at how many watts it requires and compare it to how many watts you are currently using. You are using about 50w of light right now. Upgrading to 250w of any sort of light will give you roughly 5x the electrical usage. Just wanted to help clarify where bertoni got his numbers.
