Rimless granite support question

I am trying to get a clean look on this tank. My question is do I need to put a pad under this tank if I am setting it on a 18x18 piece of granite?

If the granite and tank bottom are PERFECTLY flat, than you do not need a pad. Most likely there are small imperfections in the granite or glass surface that would create stress risers that could potentially crack the glass.
I wouldn't risk it, I piece of 1/8" foam cut to the size of the tank is all you need.
