Use of wavemakers
I've seen some videos of these in action and I can't believe that it doesn't splash water everywhere.
How far beneath the rim of the tank is the overflow placed? And, Does the water spill out of the tank? Thanks for any replies |

Nope, I've never had any water splash out. I've had the tunze wavebox and the Wave 2k. I prefer the uglier wave 2k though. The wave to 2k sits right at the top of the water in the tank and extends down to the bottom. When I used the Tunze it sat at the same height.

Thanks for the reply David.
How far below the top rim of the tank are the overflow boxes that go to the sump? |

My over flows come out of the water but have slits in them that allow the water to drain into the overflow. Is this what you are talking about?

I guess what I'm looking for is the distance from the top rim of the tank to the bottom of the slits cut into your overflow box.
I was thinking of placing the top of the overflow box (no slits) about 2" below the top rim of the tank. I really want to create a wave in the tank, but am extremely concerned about spilling water out of the tank. My tank height is 25" so I don't mind losing a couple of inches. My tank will have a completely open top. |

the over flows extend out of the water, but not out of the tank. You want everything below your rim. I will post picture in a few minutes.
