Another problem!!!
I just noticed a small leak in my barracuda reeflo that I just bought (used). It hasn't been turned on yet but there is water going into it from the sump. Is this normal when not running or should I change the seal?

where is it leaking at? if its leaking at the housing where it splits make sure the O ring is installed correctly and there are no cracks in the housing make sure all the screws are tight , they should be tightened in a offset pattern top to bottom working in a clockwise manner , you could also be leaking from your connections to the pump

It certainly isn't normal in the sense that it should be leaking if set up properly. It is easy to improperly install a seal even if it seems you did it right. I would take it apart (where it's leaking) and put it back together.

Sorry, never got back to you guys but I changed the seal and it stopped the leak. I spent 24hr straight yesterday and into this morning finishing the plumbing and trnsferring the tank over.
No fish or coral casualties. Just hoping there isn't any new sand or rock shifting spikes. |
