Should I freshwater dip my Chaetomorpha?

Do people typically do this or should I just throw it in my fuge?

Is no quarantine needed for things like this to be sure nothing 'extra' is being carried along with it?

Be sure that the system it came from doesn't have Flatworms. I have a buddy that introduced flatworms to his system via a ball of Chaeto.

I placed a ball of cheato from my "friend's" tank into my QT while I got the refuge set-up and within a few hours I saw a mini forest of Aptasia come to blume.

I'll now be ordering a ball from DFS instead. Praying for an ich free sample.

I decided to not do a freshwater dip but I did thoroughly check to see if there were any flatworms and other bad hitchikers. There was a few really small brittle stars and a bristle worm which I decided to keep. Just hoping there no ich or any other bad parasite.

interesting question. im just getting ready to set up a fuge. Only makes sense that it would require QT....everything else dose. Surprised there hasn't been more input on this question.

I got my initial clump from a trusted reefer who I knew had a clean pest free tank.

I agree! I first did a google search about this and theres not much info. Seems most people just throw their macro right in the refugium. The only place I could find chaetomorpha was a LFS i have never been to. It was recommended but on the way home I couldn't stop thinking that "what if that tank had Ich?" "Would it also be on the Chaeto?" I debated with my self for about an hour before I gambled and just threw it in the fuge. Hopefully nothing bad hapens.
