Please Recommend a Substitute Pump for JBJ 12
I use a JBJ 12 gallon tank for quarantine, but the pump died. When I took it apart, the part of the impeller that fits into the hole was all corroded and broken off, so I need a new pump. I'd like to use something readily available at my LFS, but am unsure about the size. I have good luck with Maxi Jets; what size should I buy? Thanks.

a 900 is good, and a 1200 is probably just as good. personally i dont think the two differ so much in terms of gph, but every bit of it does seem to help. only thing with the 1200 is that it heat the water more than the 900.

This tank will never support such large pumps. I was hoping to hear from somebody that owns the same system to recommend a small pump that equals the one that comes with the tank originally. I guess I'll try a little 404 and see if that works. Thanks anyway.

I honestly think you may be OK with the 900. I have a MJ 400 in a 10 gallon and it seems pretty weak. just my .02

Ehiem and Tunze make small pumps in the size you would need.

The MJ900 is the standard "upgrade" pump for the NC12 recomended by the guy's on the Nano-Reef forums. I put a 1200 in my 24g Nano Cube and think it's great.
